CROSS-CULTURAL EXPERIMENTAL PHILOSOPHY
A Video Series for the Geography of Philosophy ProjectWorking with members of the Geography of Philosophy Project,
I created video materials to explain our research methods to broad audiences online
and in classrooms to teach experimental philosophy in North and South America.
The YouTube series contains 3 videos:
A new approach to philosophy
Thinking about philosophy across cultures
Voices of knowledge in the Andes and Amazonia
The GPP studied knowledge, wisdom, and understanding across cultures around the world. I helped coordinate 100+ researchers
carry out studies designed by philosophers, anthropologists, linguists, psychologists, an economist, and more.
We surveyed both student and non-student populations globally in the following languages:
Mandarin, Bosnian, Polish, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Ukrainian, German, Huaorani, Kichwa, Shiwiar, Spanish, Hindi,
Tamil, Meitei, Japanese, Arabic, French, Quechua, Shipibo, Spanish, Urarina, Afrikaans, English, Sepedi, Setswana, Xhosa, isiZulu, Korean
It was a pleasure developing the script with scholars at Pitt, UCLA, and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP),
storyboarding the narrative + visuals with Anthem Video, and voicing the Cultural X-Phi video series.
“Thinking about philsophy across cultures” won second place at Bowling Green University’s Public Philosophy Video Contest in 2023 (TBA).
